By Jean Nelson

I’m forever searching for the perfect hairstyle and a good stylist. Not long ago, I went to a salon that I hadn’t tried before, got a haircut from a young man, and decided I’d go back a week later to get a color from him. I was excited! I went back, sat down in his chair, and after we agreed on what color my hair would be, I asked him about how he got into doing hair for a living. He said his family’s business was a hair school and he had grown up around the business. Eventually, he decided to enroll, learn, and do it himself. I shared that I had been a hairstylist once myself. We had something in common and were enjoying an easy conversation.

A few minutes later, he was sneezing and his eyes were watering. He mentioned something about how he had never had allergies before and it wasn’t even springtime. I thought for a minute and then decided maybe I could help. I suggested that maybe he had some trapped energies that were imbalancing his immune system, and maybe the imbalances were related to his current misery. I asked him if he would like me to check to see if I could figure it out for him. I told him that I could do muscle testing to see how he might be out of balance. He seemed intrigued and said okay, not fully understanding. I told him that just like his family had a hair school, my family had an online learning program and we teach people how to do energy healing.

As I sat there, I silently asked God for some help, as I always do before doing any testing. My hands were tucked into my lap under the hair-coloring cape. I began to use them to do one of the self-testing techniques, the ring-in-ring method. I was acting as a proxy for him to figure out the cause of his symptoms. He was not sure what was going on so I explained that I would muscle test on myself, with my hands, to see if I could uncover a reason causing the sneezing and watery eyes. I asked for the main reason, not knowing what might show up. Within a minute or two, I discovered a heart wall. I told him about it and explained what that meant. He shared that he had been divorced a few years earlier and then told me his story, all the while, wrapping strands of my hair in pieces of foil.

There were a couple of framed photos of two handsome little boys on his workstation. I asked if they were his. They were. He missed them. They lived in another town and he didn’t get to see them as often as he would like. Several years had passed since his divorce. His ex was remarried now. He was getting remarried himself in a week. Things were stressful, especially for his bride-to-be. The wedding was close and there was so much to do. He didn’t know how to relieve her stress, which was stressing him out, and she wouldn’t let him help. They had just had a blow-up the night before from all of the tension. He felt bad about it and was kind of helpless.

As we continued our conversation, I began to test to identify the emotions in his Heart-Wall. I asked questions silently to identify what each emotion was about. I told him about what I was doing and what I was finding. With what he had been telling me about his family, I was able to test specific events he had mentioned and figure out why he had the Heart Wall emotions. Most of them had to do with his divorce and not being able to be with his sons more often.

He cleared the emotions on himself, running his hand over the top of his head as I found them, one by one. A few tears fell. We talked and he shared a few things as his heart wall came down. By the end, he expressed that he was blown away by my ability to identify the exact way that he had felt when each of those things had happened. I give God the credit. I loved that we were able to clear his entire heart wall in one session. He was really feeling something. What a blessing, I thought to myself, to have all of that cleared before his new marriage was to begin. He was given a fresh start. I felt so honored to know that God did that through me. He was even given enough time to process the release of the emotions before the big day!

While I was under the hair dryer processing my hair color, he was talking to the nail technician that worked at the back of the salon, a single mom who he thought might be interested in what he had just experienced. By the time I was back in his chair, he was asking if I would talk to her because she was interested in having some emotional work done, too. He was referring! I hadn’t even asked. He expressed that maybe he shouldn’t charge me for the work he had done on my hair like maybe we should just trade. I had to insist that it was a gift to him, a wedding gift. After all, he hadn’t been seeking my help. I had just offered freely because I wanted to. I took the nail tech’s information, telling her that I knew someone working on certification. I would pass her card to my friend who would love to help her. I listened to her questions and told her all that she wanted to know about the website and where she could look to learn more. I left the salon with a new color and best of all, having done some good. I felt marvelous!

I tell this story to illustrate how natural it can be to fit the Emotion Code into your life and find new people to work with. It’s a beautiful way to connect with others and pass the time, doing something meaningful. Finding clients, making connections, and making new friends can be one and the same. Making great connections in business and discovering ways that we can benefit and promote each other’s common goals is a win-win. We all feel good when we help each other. Who doesn’t a want friend like that, who gives emotional support, who teaches us something meaningful, who introduces us to interesting new ideas and new people, who refers business to us, and who helps to better our own life?

It all sounds very nice, and it is. If you are thinking, how do “I” get clients? I’m not experienced. I’m not even certified yet… How can “I” bring it up and say that I’m an Emotion Code student that is looking for clients? Well, I hope the story will stay with you because you will get to where you can have experiences like this one. Maybe you already are doing that very thing, but if you want to get specific about what you need to know and do, let’s identify some things.

Get clear about what actions you can take to get clients

Are you new to the Emotion Code? You might be new to muscle testing, too. If so, you are probably hoping that your testing is accurate, but maybe you aren’t quite sure. You might be kind of slow and have to refer to the flow chart to know what questions to ask. You might be thinking that it would really be nice if you had more confidence. If this sounds familiar, it’s okay, because everything is as it should be. You are at the beginning and it’s only going to get better from here, as long as you follow the correct procedure and practice.

The good thing is that you’re excited to do more with the Emotion Code because you think it’s awesome. You want to improve your skill level and find clients so that you can get really good at it and get Certified in the Emotion Code. You might even want to do the Emotion Code as a business. You see the need for this work all around you and think it would be rewarding to help others. You think your life will take on a new dimension and you are ready to go. Now, the question is, how to find some clients. Let’s get clear on what you need to know and what you can do to find some clients right away.

1. Realize that people want help. If you have attended a live Emotion Code seminar, you have had the opportunity to work with some people and have very likely had some success already, clearing trapped emotions and Heart-Wall emotions. You know that you can do it and you know that people want to get cleared of baggage. They thanked you for what you did for them, even though you may have lacked confidence because it was so new to you. They still wanted your help. They were grateful. Knowing that means that it’s okay if you’re still learning how. You don’t have to be an expert to have people want you to work with them. You just need to be willing to work and have the desire to help people. Many want to be helped!

If you have not been to the live seminar, but have watched the seminar online or from the DVDs, you can invite an interested friend or family member to watch parts of the seminar with you so that you can review and practice on them. If they like the seminar and have fun practicing with you, you may have found your first client already. Create the workshopping experiences at home, just like the seminar attendees had during the seminar. Watch the seminar again and pause to practice the various exercises, so that you can have the full experience, too. It’s really so fun to try. When others see your enthusiasm, they might like to join in with you to learn. Share your seminar experience and have some fun with it.

2. Decide to communicate with people wherever you go. You can make new acquaintances that become your friends and clients in many places. It might be in a class, a park, a friend’s home, at a party, in a salon, at church, or at your workplace. You can meet people anywhere which allows for a comfortable time and place to communicate.

It’s a matter of being present, in the frame of mind and heart, that when someone is with you, you are interested, caring, and wanting to know something about them. When you engage this way, suddenly you have someone to share the Emotion Code with. You will come to know that they have emotional baggage that is creating problems for them, too, just like yours does for you. They just don’t know how to get rid of it yet. You can share what you know. Tell them that you have come across an amazing method that is helping you and others. It’s really cool! You are still learning, but it’s quick and easy to demonstrate. You can offer to show them how you do it right then, or set up an appointment to get together again.

3. How and what to communicate. You might want to tell your friend or new acquaintance an interesting Emotion Code story. After the story, if they seem interested, amazed, or better yet, if they start to tell you about their back pain, wondering if it might have an emotional cause like the person in the story, well, then it’s easy. Make sure to listen to what they are telling you. They will be interested to hear what you have to say about the Emotion Code only after they feel that you really care about them. When they know that, you have the perfect time to let them know that you are currently working on a goal to get certified. Tell them that you’d be happy to check and see if they have any trapped emotions that might be contributing to their back pain, or whatever the issue is.

Another way to engage in a conversation is to tell them about the Emotion Code seminar that you watched or attended recently, and about some of the interesting things that you learned. Energy work is a popular and interesting topic. If they are intrigued at all, you could do a demonstration. Show them that you learned how to do muscle testing. People are usually interested in that. It’s fun and different. People like to experience muscle testing on themselves, even if it is to try to disprove that it works. A muscle testing demonstration opens the door to checking for trapped emotions. Share your enthusiasm about the Emotion Code. When you are excited, others will want to know why.

4. Convey the benefits. People want to know what the benefits are for them. Why is the Emotion Code so great? Let them know how doing the Emotion Code has been healing for you, whether it relieved pain, helped your body function better, helped you think or feel more like your real self, or healed a relationship. Personal stories are great to illustrate the value of the work because when they hear how you have been helped to get rid of your pain, depression, or inability to feel love, or whatever it was, it may create hope that they can be helped, too. If you don’t have any stories of your own yet, there are plenty of stories and testimonials that you can borrow from the website, from Dr. Nelson’s blog, from the book, and from other people that have been doing the work longer. Stories are like moving pictures in the mind. There is an old saying, “One picture is worth a thousand words.” If that is true, the story you share will tell volumes!

5. Who to ask to be your client. Look for people who are open about energy work, or at least interested enough to listen. Start with some friends and family members. Others that might be interested are those who are struggling with a challenge. They may have pain, illness, or a chronic problem that is difficult for them. They might have just experienced something traumatic like a breakup, a divorce, the loss of a loved one, or the loss of a job. They might have a phobia, be worried about something, or feel unhappy. They can be anybody that has a problem or an issue. They just have to be willing to work on it. Just make sure that if they are a minor, you have the permission of their parent or guardian.

Be aware that not everyone wants to let bad things go. If they are mentally unhealthy, or stuck somehow, unwilling to make positive changes in their life, it may not be the right time to work with them. They need to want to heal. Sometimes people are toxic and subconsciously want to stay sick and miserable. They hang on to emotional baggage to avoid taking responsibility for their own life. They might rather blame someone else for their troubles than take responsibility for their own well-being. You cannot help people that do not want help, so look for people that will be able to benefit from your efforts instead.

Look for people who want to learn, heal, and who want to grow. Ask them if they would like to have you do some work with them to help them to feel better. Let them know that they would be helping you to get certified, too. If they see it as a win-win, it’s easy for them to say yes.

6. Know that people need the work. Almost everyone has some emotional baggage, or what we call trapped emotions. We’re all human and we all have problems that can lead to trapped emotions. Remember that 93% of the people on the planet have a Heart-Wall. That means we really need to do a lot of emotional work on each other! When you connect with someone who has confided in you about an emotional trauma in their life or has just had an event that was upsetting and hurtful in some way, they felt safe enough to tell you. That shows some trust. They might want help. People do need this work. It helps them to get beyond emotional and physical pain and to find healing and happiness. It’s just what they need.

7. About having a little faith. People usually do want to figure out why they have a problem so that they can fix it. If they hear that their problem might be able to be corrected by clearing a trapped emotion or two, they might think it sounds too good to be true. If they have a little faith, they may feel like it’s worth a try. If they seem unsure, let them know that you have faith that they can be helped. You have seen it work before. You have read stories about it, too. It just takes a little faith, so why not try? It can’t hurt. They won’t have to reopen any old wounds. They won’t have to share private thoughts or feelings. All they have to do is be willing to give it a try. If they have a little faith and decide to try the Emotion Code with you, they could be on their way to feeling better.

8. Commit with purpose. When you set a goal to become certified as an Emotion Code practitioner, be committed to your purpose. When you are clear about the reasons why you are getting certified to do this work and when your reasons are based in the true and grounding principle of love, nothing will stop you from finding clients. Doors will open. Heaven and earth will move for you. I find that I’m most successful in my commitments when I pray for success in my endeavors with faith, doing my part to take action where I see an opportunity. I invite you to do the same. With God nothing is impossible. Another thing that will help you to create success in finding clients is to tell your friends what you are doing. Some of them will want to support you in your purpose and become a client. When you let friends know that you are committed to your goal of becoming certified, they will be watching to see if you will follow through. You are more likely to succeed if you know that they are expecting you to do what you said you’d do. Some will want to help. It will make you stronger in your resolve, with your friends’ expectations and support behind you. Don’t let anything get in your way. Be effective, state your intentions clearly with faith and commitment, and then look for opportunities. They will be there.

9. Love unconditionally. People have a need to know that they are important, and loved, and that they matter. When they understand that your motivation to help them is unconditional love, they will be more likely to be open to allowing you to work with them.

If you are co-dependent and feel like you need to obsess over your loved ones and try to fix them because you want to control their behavior or influence them to be different, your focus is wrong. They won’t benefit nor will you. If they feel like you think something is wrong with them, that you are judging them, or manipulating them and trying to force change, good luck! It’s not likely that you will get anywhere with them. This can happen in dysfunctional families and marriages. It is essential to get permission to do emotional work for others so that they won’t feel like their privacy has been violated, even if you are family. It is unethical to do energy work without permission.

When you do the work with the right attitude and in the right way, when you are willing to share someone’s burden, just long enough to listen, care, and release their trapped emotions, you have really done something meaningful. Giving unconditional love allows others to feel safe and valued. Knowing that you can make that kind of difference for someone else will certainly bring joy to you.

10. Appreciate your clients. Don’t charge for your sessions while you are in your certification process. Being in the certification process is like going to school to learn the basics. It’s an introduction to the work, a time to practice and work the bugs out. You might do everything perfectly from day one, but just in case you don’t, it is time to refine your work. If you help your clients during your certification process, which you probably will, they’ll love you for it. Your rewards are to see them happy, feel their gratitude, and learn. Make sure to let your clients know that you are planning to charge for sessions after you are certified. Tell them that you will be looking for more clients. Ask for referrals. The best time to ask is when they are excited about how much you have helped them. Let your clients know that you appreciate them, too. When you express your gratitude, you may find that they will want to continue to work with you after you are certified. That relationship can bring continued blessings to both of you. A caring note expressing your gratitude, an email asking how they are doing occasionally, or an incentive such as a coupon for savings on a session may mean a lot to them as well. It will keep you in their conscious thoughts. Show your continued support and love, and make sure to let them know that you are still there to help. You may just get some calls.

I too am curious about how you were able to find specific emotions without using a chart, unless you have it memorized… Could you please explain this further? I’m new to all this and would love to know.

I’ll read Part 2 and hope to get a reply from you or anyone else who can help.

    Warm Regards

This inspiring story reinforces a question I haven’t found the answer to yet… to make the Emotion Code truly ‘portable’, able to use literally anywhere as Jean did in this story, I can only presume she has memorized the Emotions Chart, correct?
