You hear this all the time. Eat whole foods to be healthier! Yet the question is, do you really know what a whole food is?

“Eat whole foods” is bouncing from blog headline to headline. You might find this ironic but there is a lot of confusion about what whole food actually is. Here is the scoop. It doesn’t have to be organic or locally grown, it doesn’t have to be free from pesticides, it is simply the whole complete food. Just that.

A whole food for instance is the difference between a whole orange and a glass of squeezed orange juice or a whole egg compared to just using the egg white. Simply put whole food is food in its natural unchanged state.

“We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons.” Alfred E. Newman

Whole food can also be several whole ingredients combined together that are in their original “whole” form. As an example this would be like a recipe for an omelet using, whole eggs, sliced mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, sliced onions and fresh basil leaf. Yum!

Do you want to have more zip and zest for life? Health is more than the absence of disease, health is a state of optimal well-being. Good whole foods can pave the road to good health.

Now that you know what whole food really is you can get creative at adding more whole foods to your diet! Doing this creates a very good chance that you will be able to eat your way out of any dilemma your body is in. Be it poor health, overweight, skin conditions or wanting to maintain a good vitality for living.
