CHAKRA HEALING

Inside all of us lies 7 energy centers of spiritual power – chakras. These 7 centers are connected to the major organs and glands that govern our bodies. Each chakra is arranged in a column along the spinal cord, from its base to the top of the head, connected by vertical channels. The term chakra is derived from Hinduism and translates to “wheel of energy.” We believe chakras are responsible for transforming and meshing the energy from our physical body with our psychological, emotional, mental, and non-physical energies. Here are the descriptions for the location and purpose of each chakra.

The Chakra Comes From Ancient Indian Philosophy Still Widely Taught Around The World Today

Our understanding of the Chakras comes from India. The Hindu Vedas (old sacred texts) are a collection of writings, some of which date back to as early as 1700–1100 BCE. This is where we see first mentions of iterations of the word chakra, prana, vayu (life energy), nadi (energy carrying arteries), and more. More recent (but still very old) Hindu and Buddhist texts expand on the chakra as four or more vital energy centers within the subtle body.

The subtle body is what leaves the body when one dies and is believed to be withdrawn within, when one sleeps. The subtle body is believed to be reachable, awake-able and important for an individual’s body-mind health, and how one relates to other people in one’s life. The subtle body network of nadi and chakra is, according to some later Indian theories and many new age speculations, closely associated with emotions.

In our day, we speak of the Chakras as complexes of electromagnetic variety, the precise degree and variety of which directly arise from a synthetic average of all positive and negative so-called “fields”, thus eventuating the complex Nadi. Within kundalini yoga, the techniques of breath exercises, visualizations, mudras, bandhas, kriyas, and mantras are focused on manipulating the flow of subtle energy through chakras.

The Chakras Are A Key Component In Energy Healing and Vital For Optimal Self-Healing

The chakras allow specific channels of energy to flow in and out in a constant stream. It is the frequency state of our chakras that determines the direction our energy will flow as they either draw energy into our body or release it outward.

Each chakra is equally important for processing energy in the body so we seek to balance the energy in all of our chakras. In a perfect setting, each chakra is healthy, open, and balanced. As one chakra becomes unbalanced, it affects the other chakras of the body. Where one may be underactive, others may be overactive to make up the difference. In energy healing, the body’s vibrational energy is brought back to balance and harmony which allows for natural healing to occur.

When chakras are imbalanced, negative effects occur. These can be in the form of negative emotions or even physical pain and discomfort. Each chakra can present unique symptoms when unbalanced, whether it is over- or underactive.

The Root Chakra – When imbalanced, the root chakra can stir up feelings of insecurity, greed, materialism, fear, and an unwillingness to change or adapt.

The Sacral Chakra – When imbalanced, the sacral chakra can stir up feelings of heightened sensitivity, attachment or neediness, mood swings, isolation, low self-esteem or self-worth, or self harm.

The Navel or Solar Plexus Chakra – When imbalanced, you may experience more inclinations to be controlling, angry, critical, domineering, and even aggressive. Or opposite feelings of passiveness or indecisiveness may arise.

The Heart Chakra – An imbalance in the heart chakra can create an unrealistic need for affection, abandonment of self in a partnership, or a lack of boundaries. Adversely, a heart chakra imbalance can also lead to isolation and an inability to be vulnerable and form close relationships.

The Throat Chakra – An overactive throat chakra can cause one to be self-absorbed, condescending, and highly critical while an underactive throat chakra may cause one to be shy or unable to express their needs.

The Third Eye Chakra – Feelings of being aloof, exercising poor judgement, or inattentiveness can be caused by an overactive third eye chakra. An overactive third eye chakra can show symptoms of closed mindedness, skepticism, or anxiousness.

The Crown Chakra – Lacking direction, seeking too much or too little spiritual guidance, and having difficulty trusting one’s own ideas can be symptoms of an imbalance in the crown chakra.

Chakras and Your Energetic Frequency

Our chakras control our energy frequencies by either stimulating, inhibiting, or balancing certain traits, moods, emotions, and desires. When one chakra is underwhelmed, another will go into high gear to compensate. Our chakras are not only absorbing and emitting energy, they’re the source of your vibrational frequency as well as affected by your vibrational frequencies.

The dual role of the chakras plays part in both your consciousness and your physical self and is in large part the tool to balancing the mind and the body. By clearing emotional baggage/trapped emotions, you are able to heal and clean your chakras to restore balance. This brings about a positive and balanced vibrational energy which is the best foundation for self-healing.
