If you haven’t noticed, our Practitioner Spotlights have traveled the world, from New Zealand to Ireland, and now we have the honor of featuring the healing qualities of Spanish Fork, Utah’s very own Dr. Don Whittaker. Dr. Whittaker’s thoughts on how the Emotion Code differs from Western medicine is spot on and be sure to read his story of how he helped a young 14 year old girl with her thyroid issue. If you would like to contact him for a session, please scroll to the bottom of this article where you will find his contact info.

How did you find out about the Emotion Code and how long have you been practicing?
I’ve been a chiropractor for close to 30 years. For most of that time, I was very conservative and didn’t get involved with energy work. Over time, I realized that body, mind and spirit all work together, but I didn’t have a good technique to do anything about it. When I began sharing office space with Dr. Joe Kepo’o about 3 years ago, he introduced me to The Emotion Code. I saw that he was getting great results with it, so I decided to give it a try. I started to see amazing things happen and have been using it ever since.

How do you think The Emotion Code compares to other energy healing modalities?
I love the logical organization of The Emotion Code and the Body Code. With all energy healing, it helps tremendously to be in tune with the patient’s mind and body. However, unless you’re totally psychic, which I’m not, you need some type of pattern to follow. Dr. Nelson has developed a tremendous system whereby you can ask questions of the person’s mind and body in an organized fashion, going from the general to the specific.

What advice would you give to those that are new to practicing TEC?
First, learn the principles well. Pray and meditate for understanding. Then practice, practice, practice. Be bold in sharing this with others. I’ve been surprised at how many people are really open to it and are searching for something like this. The more people you work with, the more sensitive you become to subtle changes and nuances. Always seek for guidance as you work with people and you’ll be prompted with what direction you need to go with your questioning, as well as knowing when more is needed. Finally, recommend that people read The Emotion Code. The more they understand it, the more benefit they will derive from it.

What are the differences between the Emotion Code and the westernized medical/drug industry?
Standard western (allopathic) medicine has its place. If I have a raging infection, a broken leg, I’m bleeding profusely, or have any other serious acute health problem, by all means, take me to the local M.D. However, I’d still want the benefit of the Emotion Code and Body Code as I go through the healing process. Beyond immediate problems, they’re often not very effective at getting to the root causes of many problems. Being able to put a label on a problem (providing a diagnosis) and giving a drug associated with that issue rarely solves the problem. TEC and other natural healing methods seek to find and correct the underlying imbalances that caused the health problem in the first place. Trapped emotions are at the root of many, if not all, physical and emotional problems. They may or may not be the source of the problem, but they are often part of the problem. Even when trapped emotions are not the main cause of the issue, finding and removing them can certainly aid in the healing process.

Do you have a healing story using TEC that you could tell us about?
I have many examples of where TEC has helped people significantly, both physically and emotionally. One of the most dramatic examples is the case that really converted me to the Emotion Code and led to my becoming certified in it. I had a 14 year old female patient who was very weak and sickly. She was so sick that she hadn’t been able to attend school for several months. She had been seeing medical doctors, but they weren’t able to help her or figure out what was wrong. From a chiropractic standpoint, I was able to help her some. I figured out that much of her problem had to do with her thyroid. The adjustments and nutrition made her feel a little better, but she was still too sick and weak to go to school. Being new to TEC, I didn’t think to check for trapped emotions at first. Finally I checked on a trapped emotion in her thyroid. Sure enough, she had one and we cleared it (and a few others). She immediately started to improve and within two weeks, she was back in school. Now, a couple of years later, she’s still going strong and doing well in school. Her mother starts to cry whenever she talks about how TEC saved her daughter.

If you could tell the world about the Emotion Code in one sentence, what would you say?
Trapped emotions can have a tremendous impact on a person’s body, mind and spirit and there’s no more effective system for finding and clearing those trapped emotions than the Emotion Code.

Where do you see the future of energy medicine headed?
I believe that energy medicine is the future of healthcare. Technology and western medicine have grown together and accomplished great things. The problem is that we’re not machines. So technology can only go so far in helping us maintain optimal health. Since our body, mind and spirit work together, techniques must be employed that take all of that into consideration, which is what energy medicine does. The popularity and understanding of energy medicine is growing as people are realizing this fact.
