Linda DesMarais and her wonderful work with the Emotion Code is based in years of energy healing knowledge, so we thought why not ask her to be our Featured Practitioner, and as you will read below, we are glad we did so! Linda tells us how the EC compares to other healing modalities and shares some fantastic advice with those learning the EC, and be sure to read her inspiring stories of healing. As always, you will find Linda’s contact information at the bottom of this interview, you can contact Linda for a session!
How did you find out about the Emotion Code and how long have you been practicing?
I think I first learned about the Emotion Code when someone in one of my Yahoo Groups mentioned it. It sounded interesting, so I ordered the book. It was so fascinating that I nearly read it cover to cover in one sitting ! As I already had strong muscle testing skills I began working on my list friends and their animals shortly thereafter. I had worked with it about a year before becoming certified in November of 2010, so it’s been over 3 years now.
How do you think The Emotion Code compares to other energy healing modalities?
I have a lot of experience with a variety of different energy healing modalities. Over the last 10 or 15 years I could almost say I was a bit of an energy work ‘junky’. My first energy healing modality was Reiki, I went on to learn and work with EFT, TAT, Quantum Touch, BSFF, A & R to name a few of the primary ones and am also an Access BARS practitioner – but most of those got left by the wayside when I discovered the Emotion Code and then later the Body Code. How does the EC/BC compare? There is really no comparison! While I do find Reiki complements the EC/BC work and I always include Reiki w/ my sessions, I rarely use any of my other ‘energy tools’ anymore. It’s nice to have them in my ‘tool box’ but with the EC/BC, I just don’t need them very often. I love how the EC/BC can pinpoint just where the problem is, and let me clear it. I do all my work by proxy, and find it exciting to work with clients all over the world.
What advice would you give to those that are new to practicing TEC?
Just stick with it! I find some people struggle with getting accurate/consistent muscle testing results. Part of that is just practicing a lot, eventually it gets to be 2nd nature. If practice doesn’t seem to be doing the trick, often there are some Trapped Emotions blocking you! I’ve worked with a number of clients who were unsuccessful with muscle testing and after an EC session or two they were able to master it. If you are struggling, it’s well worth investing in yourself and having a session or two with a practitioner – before you know it you’ll be working on yourself, and maybe even others. : )
What are the differences between the Emotion Code and the westernized medical/drug industry?
That’s a pretty loaded question. Where do I start … ?! I guess the short answer would be that in general I feel that western medicine is pretty much controlled by the drug industry. Sadly, for the most part, it’s not about healing you, but more about matching your symptoms with a drug that will cover them up. Preferably one that you can take for the rest of your life, likely having some side effects that they can give you ANOTHER drug to cover! On the other hand, the EC/BC can actually RELEASE the blocks and reset energetic circuitry disruptions causing illness, rather than just covering them up. Though it can cause side-effects as well, they’re GOOD ONES. I often work on a client for one thing and they email me to say that something else cleared up as well! Bet you don’t see that too often with Western Medicine.
Do you have a healing story using TEC that you could tell us about?
So many … it’s hard to pick. As I am also a dog trainer, I guess it would have to be one of my dog ones. Many skeptics will try to tell you that energy work results are due solely to the placebo effect. If you think it will work, then it will. If that was the case, then how do you explain the great results the EC has on animals! I’ve worked with a lot of rescue animals with outstanding results, but as they are all over the country / world I haven’t met any of them. Maggie the golden retriever was one of my agility students for several years. She took private lessons because she was so reactive with other dogs. Her dedicated owner walked her either VERY early in the AM or late at night so they wouldn’t be likely to run into any other dogs. In the 30 minute drive to my house for class, Maggie barked nearly non-stop. When I first learned the EC, I volunteered to do sessions for Maggie so I could see the results first hand. First I addressed the barking in the car, while it took 2 or 3 sessions, her owner reported that Maggie stopped barking non-stop and would only bark if she saw another dog. She even lay down a few times – a first! Then we tackled the reactiveness, I decided that before and after video would be perfect for those who have to ‘see it to believe it’. In the ‘before’ I let one of my dogs out in a pen and Maggie just went nuts, and she wasn’t anywhere near my dog. While it took about a half dozen EC sessions for Maggie and a couple for her person (who at this point tensed/reacted herself when she saw other dogs) we were ready for ‘the test’. Used the same dog, same spot and this time Maggie barely paid attention to the other dog. And on the occasions she did, her owner was able to quickly get her attention back, even when we moved Maggie a lot closer than we had on the initial ‘test’. In all honesty, I’m not sure that **I** would have believed it had I not seen it myself !! Her owner later emailed a picture of her with a new doggie friend. Wow!
If you could tell the world about the Emotion Code in one sentence, what would you say?
You’ve likely been carrying around emotional baggage your entire life, the EC gives you the opportunity to let it go and be FREE.
Where do you see the future of energy medicine headed?
My hopes are that people will continue to be more open minded when it comes to energy medicine. While we’ve come a long way in the 10-15 years since I first learned about energy healing, (when even Reiki was looked upon with skepticism), we still have a long way to go. I think we have an uphill battle when it comes to being accepted by the medical community – they would much rather prescribe drugs or surgery. But I think the general public is becoming more interested in wellness, and certainly energy medicine can fit that bill. It’s up to all of us to get the word out. Eventually people can’t help but see that CLEARING the cause of illness is so much better than covering it up.
