At Discover Healing, muscle testing is part of the foundation of our energy healing practices. This skill allows you to tap into your internal knowledge, and access the part of you that already knows how to heal physically and mentally! When you’re starting out with muscle testing, you’ll want to practice a lot, and build your experience. One important part of the process is to learn what questions to ask, and how to ask them.

Questions for muscle testing yourself

When you first begin your energy healing journey, we always recommend that you practice muscle testing on yourself. The more you practice, the more confident you’ll become. You can practice on yourself as often as you like to get comfortable. In fact, a great way to start is to ask yourself questions you already know the answer to. This will help you gain a better understanding of your responses.

Some examples of questions you can ask yourself are ‘My name is (your name)’ and ‘My name is (not your name).’ ‘I live in (your town’s name)’ and ‘I live in (another place you don’t live).’ Try out a few questions like this, where you already know if what you’re saying is true or not.

See if you feel a pattern as you muscle test these questions. Notice how your muscles respond to true statements and to false statements. You might also experiment with a few of the different muscle testing techniques as you repeat these types of simple questions to determine what test works best for you.

Phrase your questions clearly

When you start asking more complex questions, it’s important to ask them in a way that allows for only two answers. Your subconscious mind can speak to you through your body with a strong or a weak response, so questions need to be phrased in a way that your answers correlate to one of these responses. You’ll need to ask questions that can be answered with a yes/no, or a true/false. For example, if you asked, “Do I have a Trapped Emotion” the response is either yes or no. If you asked, “What emotion is trapped in my body” instead, there’s no clear way for your body to answer that question through muscle testing.

Follow our charts and the app for help asking questions

The Emotion Code® and The Body Code™ are designed to help you ask questions that will lead you to answers that can help balance energy in your body. We believe that this energetic balance will help your body heal itself! The Emotion Code charts lay out a roadmap of specific questions about Trapped Emotions and other energetic imbalances. These questions help you track down exactly what your body needs to release. The Body Code builds off of this, mapping even more ways to identify issues within the body. These tools can help you identify the questions that need to be addressed.

Try to clear your mind of any bias

When you are asking muscle testing questions, try to ask without attaching any emotion to the result. If you already have an idea of what you want an answer to be, your answers will likely be influenced by that feeling. Your muscle testing questions will produce better results if you’re able to remove your personal bias or preconceptions about the answers.

Questions to ask when proxy muscle testing

If you begin practicing muscle testing by proxy, it’s important to ask a few specific questions in order to determine if you’re fully connected to the person you’re testing for. After you’ve taken a moment to connect with the person you’re testing for and set an intention to help them, you can try asking a few questions to clarify if you’re ready to test for them. You might ask, “Am I connected to (person’s name?)” and see what answer you receive.
