Try using almost no force at all when you are self-testing. Remember, you are trying to sense the subtle change that takes place in the body when a true or false statement is made. Using more force doesn’t help! My fingers hurt for 7 years from self-testing, because I didn’t understand that I was using too much force. Now, I use almost no force at all. Try it!

Does anyone have a suggestion, while learning to muscle test, on how to make it less subjective? If I know I am going to say “yes, yes, yes” and then I know when I am going to switch it to “no no no,” how can I trust myself? Does anyone have a thought on how to practice this better? I tried writing negative and positive words on a card and seeing if I could tell which is which when placed on me face down…..but I still do not feel like I am getting anywhere. I too really want to learn this…..but I do not feel like I am making progress. Any thoughts?? : )
Hello,
As a hypnotherapist, my suggestion to Kathleen is to relax, by using self hypnosis. This directs the focus away from the conscious mind. The subconscious mind then is open to suggestions such as muscle testing for trapped emotions. Simply sit in a chair in a quiet place. Take several deep breaths which relaxes the body and mind. Then count slowly from 1-10 with eyes closed. Sit still for five min or so, then open your eyes. You will feel refreshed enough to begin muscle testing.
As well this allows the subconscious to respond instead of consciously answering, which the conscious mind does not know the answer, only subconscious mind knows. All the best.
It really seems to matter where you look when testing, especially at first. The creator of Psych-K, Rob Williams, teaches that keeping your chin level to the ground and eyes looking downward is the best way to access the subconscious mind. He teaches that looking upwards accesses different parts of your brain. I personally have found that looking downward gives me the most reliable results, although as I become more experienced is seems to matter less.
When muscle testing if you raise your eyes and take your vision as far away as possible, you disconnect the brain and you use your senses, giving a more accurate reading.
I’m not sure what you mean by “raise your eyes”, but I know that in Kundalini yoga we stare at the tip of the nose and this is perhaps similar? to stimulate the 3rd eye & pituitary gland? I wonder if this would help w/ disconnecting from the senses and getting a better reading.
Please give it a try and you may be pleasantly surprised.
I will have to experiment with that. I’m willing to try any ideas. I’m new to this and trying to get certified. I really need self testing to work to help myself before I start practicing on others. For right now, my sub-conscious is not on speaking terms with me! I’ve tried all the methods, numerous times. I can hardly wait for it to work.
Maybe you are too tense relax go back to basics and redo again
