Having a website can help you find new clients and grow your business! But it might seem quite intimidating, especially if you aren’t familiar with web design. Luckily, many website builders now have easy-to-use templates that make it simple to create a functional, beautiful website! If you’ve been dreaming of having a website to promote your energy healing practitioner business, we’re here to help! Allow us to outline the basic steps you’ll need to take to create your first webpage.

8 Steps to Design Your Energy Healing Practitioner Website

1. Think about what you want your website to accomplish.

What are the goals of your website? Why are you creating it? Having answers to these questions in mind will help you make important choices about the design of your site. Some ideas for website goals to get your imagination flowing:

  • Provide a way for clients to get to know you better.
  • Offer the opportunity for clients to book sessions online.
  • Share your products and services with the world.
  • Attract new clients who would benefit from your skills.
  • Reach a wider audience, and make a difference around the world.

2. Choose a platform and template where you’ll design your website.

Time to choose a platform! Choosing a website builder that is intuitive and simple is a great choice if you’re new to web design. Here are a few great options:

Wix: The site builder Wix is a great option for your energy healing business! Wix offers templates that can be easily customized to fit your business. Their interface allows you to drag and drop different functions within a set template.

View their ‘Wellness’ templates, ‘Consulting or Coaching,’ ‘Sports and Fitness,’ or ‘Alternative Therapist,’ and you’ll find many options that could be easily customized for your business. For example, below you’ll see one of the Alternative Therapist templates. If you choose Wix, once you sign up, you’ll then be able to add your information, swap out the image for something energy healing related, change the title to something that reflects your business, and perhaps change one of the headers to a blog or anything else you’re hoping to share. However, by starting with a template that is already designed for a similar business, you won’t have to design the site from scratch. This will simplify your process and make creating your own energy healing practitioner website much easier!

Squarespace: Another wonderful option for beginners is Squarespace. Squarespace is also extremely easy to use and intuitive, even for those just getting started with web design. Squarespace has hundreds of modern, creative, beautiful templates created by designers to choose from!

Once you have chosen the template that fits your needs, you’ll be able to easily customize the colors, photos, phrasing, pages, features, and more!

WordPress: WordPress has more customization options, and would be best suited for businesses that need a few more advanced features, and those who are comfortable with web design! If you choose WordPress, you’ll also need to select a hosting platform (Wix and Squarespace both include hosting).

These are some of the most popular website builders! However, there are others you might want to consider as well. Explore your options, and choose one that you feel will work best for your purposes.

3. Select and purchase your website domain name

A “domain name” means the URL where people will find your website. For example, our domain name is DiscoverHealing.com. You’ll need to check if your preferred domain name is available, and if it is, you can purchase it. You can accomplish this on Squarespace and Wix – they both offer a domain registration section! You can also use domain registration sites such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains to check the name availability and reserve it for yourself. Ideally, you’ll use a .com site, but you can also consider a .net or .edu domain.

It’s a good idea to use your business name if you already have one. Try to choose a domain name that is short and memorable! You’ll also want to check if the name is trademarked by someone else. It’s important to make sure your business name is not using a trademarked phrase. This includes the phrases the Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code! While you may use these trademarked terms to explain the work you do, you do need to omit them from your company name and website URL.

4. Decide what pages and features you’ll include on your energy healer website.

Check back in with the goals you set for your website, and think about what pages and features will help you accomplish those goals. Don’t feel pressure to have a big, complex website – keep it simple! You can always add more pages later on. Here are a few page and feature ideas to consider for your site:

Home page: Start with a great Home Page. This is the first thing most people will see when they visit your website, so you’ll want to make sure it introduces your business and allows visitors to easily access the other important pages on your site.

You’ll also want to include one main call to action on this page. Think of something like a button that takes clients to book a session or a discovery call with you!

About page: You might include a page where you introduce yourself and your business. This is a great way for prospective customers to get to know you and your mission better. You can also include your certifications here, your history with energy work, and why you’re passionate about energy healing.

We recommend including a link to DiscoverHealing.com within this page when you mention your certifications and skills. This is helpful for those who want to learn more about your energy healing methods, and a great way to lend credibility to your business.

Description of services page: You may want to include a page that explains what your services are. You can also include details about what length of session you offer, in-person and by-proxy session options, and pricing.

Book services page: This could be its own page, or you might combine it with your description of services page! Think about how you currently book sessions. If that’s already working well for you, you can keep using that same system! Here are a few options:

Contact information: Include your contact information clearly on your website so that clients can reach out to you!

Testimonials or reviews: Have you gotten glowing reviews from past clients (even those you worked with during certification!)? Sharing these on your website can be a great way to earn new clients’ trust. Make sure you have permission before using them!

Calendar of events: If you tend to host events, including these on your website is a wonderful way for clients to see where you’ll be and when.

Blog: Having a blog on your website is a great way to share information, tips, and success stories, and to allow your clients to see your unique perspective. It isn’t necessary to have, but it can be a great way to keep your website fresh.

5. Create content for your wellness practitioner website.

Now that you know the main pages you’ll be using, it’s time to add your flair and style to your new website!

Collect images: Use high-quality photos of yourself (if you’re comfortable sharing your face), photos related to your business, or simply beautiful images that convey the feeling your clients will experience with energy healing! Stock photo websites such as Unsplash or Pexels can provide free images.

Add videos: Adding videos to your website is optional, but it can be an amazing way for your clients to see who you are online before they book with you! If you already have a YouTube, TikTok, or Reels, you can repurpose those videos for your website.

Written content: Take time to thoughtfully craft the messaging on your website. You’ll want to create a headline for your homepage, a personal biography, a business description, and descriptions of your services. Try to keep your writing clear, and easy to understand. It’s okay to take inspiration from written content on Discover Healing’s website, or other websites about energy healing – however, be sure to write in your own words. If you use any written content from other sites word for word, you’ll need to include a citation and link to the original content. Allow clients to get to know you through your original thoughts, ideas, and creativity!

Having a few trusted friends or colleagues take a look at your work can be a great way to catch any errors, and get feedback. You might also want to read what you write out loud, to get a better idea of how it sounds.

6. Optimize your site for search engines

By using Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, you’ll help more people discover your site! When a site is well optimized, it will be listed higher in the results when someone searches for related things on the internet.

Think about the types of searches that it would make sense for your website to show up under. If someone searches for ‘energy healer in Salt Lake City” and you are an energy healer based in Salt Lake City, it would make sense for you to show up in that search! By making sure search engines know what you do and where you’re more likely to show up in that search. You can communicate this information by including those terms, or keywords, throughout your website.

Search engines also prioritize websites that are updated regularly, and function properly. Here are a few simple tips to make sure your website is optimized for search engines:

  • Use keywords throughout your website. Include terms such as ‘energy healing practitioner,’ ‘energy work,’ ‘book energy healing in [your city, your state],’ etc!
  • Use smaller-sized images, by scaling them down. Images over 1 MB will slow your site down.
  • Use internal linking! This means linking between different pages of your website. For example, on your homepage you might mention booking a session – include a link to the page on your site where they can book a session (or where they can find info about how to book a session).
  • Include external links to credible websites. Referencing DiscoverHealing.com is a great way to lend credibility to your website in the eyes of search engines.
  • Do not copy written content. Search engines can verify that content is copied, and will rank your site lower because of it. Trust your creativity and write original content that is personal to you and your business!
  • Keep your website up to date! Add new content to your website by updating any events you’re hosting, adding new blog articles, sharing recent testimonials, or adding any other creative, fun, useful content you can think of!

7. Review and test your website.

Once you’re happy with how your website looks, it’s time to test! Perhaps have a few loved ones look through the site, and give you feedback. A few important things to look for:

  • Make sure your pages load and look good across different browsers, such as Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.
  • Check how your site looks on different size devices! Look at it on a desktop, tablet, and smartphone. Mobile responsiveness is especially important since many people will likely visit your site on their phones!
  • Test how quickly your site loads. If it takes an image a long time to load, you’ll want to size down the image.

8. Celebrate your new brand new website!

Wow, you did it! You now have a beautiful, professional website, where clients can easily find your information and learn more about your business. Enjoy the fruits of your labor and the natural growth of your business! You truly are changing the world, and we’re so glad to be on this journey with you.
