When we experience negativity, whether it be from a traumatic event or chronic abuse, our subconscious mind works diligently to protect us by building a wall around the heart, known as a Heart-Wall®. While this Heart-Wall may be necessary to survive at the time, it keeps us from living a full and vibrant life. With mindfulness and time, you can discover and eliminate your Heart-Wall for a more open, loving life.
What Is a Heart-Wall?
A Heart-Wall is a safety measure. It is a virtual security system installed by your subconscious that keeps toxic, intruding negativity out and allows you to survive. Although it serves a purpose, it should only be there temporarily.
While a Heart-Wall is not an actual physical barrier around your heart, it is built with “materials” that are very real to your subconscious. The “material” used can be reflective of the event that caused the construction of the Heart-Wall in the first place. Your subconscious may have constructed it from wood from a memory of hardwood floors when the traumatic event happened, for example.
These Heart-Wall materials are subconscious manifestations of energy being used to defend yourself and your emotions. You are using your own energy to keep yourself safe and help you function through a difficult time.
How Does a Heart-Wall Hurt?
While construction of a Heart-Wall can protect you from bad feelings coming in, it also keeps out the good feelings. Conversely, your love, desire, and happiness get trapped behind that Heart-Wall, so you are unable to send out positive vibes. So you can see that a Heart-Wall doesn’t just hurt you, it can hurt those around you who need your joy and love.
A Heart-Wall can be an emotional prison. Until you find it and release the trapped emotions and energies causing it, you will go through life somewhat like a zombie. You are moving, you are surviving, but you are not living.

How Can You Release a Heart-Wall?
By using the techniques described in The Emotion Code and The Body Code, you can take steps to release a Heart-Wall, whether it be your own or another’s, and finally start living a full life.
The first step is the identification of the wall. Simply ask yourself the question, “Is there a Heart-Wall?”
The next step is very important. You must ask if the Heart-Wall can be released. Most of the time, the answer will be “yes,” but occasionally the person is just not ready to let that guard down. It can actually be quite overwhelming to suddenly feel again.
When a person is ready to tear down that Heart-Wall, it happens through The Emotion Code healing process of releasing the trapped emotions. Heart-Wall releases take an average of 3–5 sessions to release completely. In rare cases, it might release right away. Or, it might take many sessions. Some people are able to process the releases quite quickly, while others may need more time in between sessions to process the emotional release.
In our work, we’ve discovered that approximately eight out of ten people have a Heart-Wall that is keeping them from living a joyous and fulfilling life. Through The Emotion Code, you can better understand the physical and psychological connections and how they affect everyday life. Here are a few stories from real people in the Discover Healing community:
I released my Heart-Wall as part of my Emotion Code® Certification Course. The following day I had a sudden sadness that overwhelmed me for a few seconds. I had no idea where it came from. Then it was gone as fast and unexpectedly as it had come! In the hours that followed, I was particularly joyful and cheerful, my eyes sparkling with laughter. That evening, I had a phone conversation that would have aggravated me in other circumstances, but I kept genuinely laughing at the situation.
Since then, I have felt much lighter than before, and I feel a deep joy that makes me smile and laugh easily at anything, being amazed and filled with wonder by everything, even very insignificant things. My inner child now has all the space to express herself. I feel the innocent playfulness of a child within me.
Getting rid of my Heart-Wall was the last layer I needed to remove after all the years of spiritual and personal development I had done. It’s the cherry on the cake that has allowed me to completely enjoy the feeling of being free, happy, aligned with my Higher Self and at peace, to be able to openly and genuinely feel and express more love.

My Heart-Wall® was released by a Certified Body Code Practitioner a couple of years ago. When I left the appointment, the entire world around me seemed brighter. The day was glowing and everything had a sparkle to it, like there were sun rays shining off of everything. I received an unexpected bonus check the next day as well! They usually only give bonus checks to supervisors and up so yay for me!!

I had a Heart-Wall®. I had been in a very difficult marriage for 13 years. Hence, I dealt with much anxiety. I used the Emotion Code® and worked on myself over time. After several sessions of working on releasing my Heart-Wall, my anxiety is now completely gone.

Q: What does releasing a Heart-Wall feel like?

Q: Can a Heart-Wall come back after being released?

Q: Can I release my Heart-Wall on my own, or do I need a practitioner?
Both are possible. The Emotion Code provides all the tools needed to work on yourself. Many people find it helpful to work with a certified practitioner!
Q: Is releasing a Heart-Wall the same as releasing trapped emotions?
A Heart-Wall is built from trapped emotions layered around the heart. Releasing a Heart-Wall means identifying and releasing the specific emotions that make it up, layer by layer. Common trapped emotions can be found anywhere in the body, not just around the heart.
